FAQ’s on how it affects the housing market

Information correct as of the 12th day of February, 2021. As this is a fluid situation, information may change over time.

Summary of the restrictions

Circuit-breaker restrictions are in place from 11:59pm on Friday, 12 February until 11:59pm on Wednesday, 17 February 2021, subject to public health advice.

  • There are only four reasons to leave home: shopping for the things you need, care and caregiving, exercise, and work, if it is permitted.
  • You can only attend an auction for a house or property remotely.
  • You are still able to move to a new house if you had already arranged to move.
  • Emergency repairs can occur. All other maintenance and warranty work should be deferred until after circuit-breaker restrictions.

You must wear a face mask when you leave home unless an exception applies. For more information, see face masks.
